A Fruitful Event

The 7th Converging World 2009 Exhibition and Conference on IT, Telecom, Electronics, Gaming and Security systems held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata on February 13-15, 2009 received an overwhelming response from the industry leaders. The event, organized by Zeal Broadband Solutions in association with Ministry of Information & Technology, Government of West Bengal was a thumping success.

The exhibition-cum-conference witnessed a large number of visitors from various states like Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattishgarh, Orissa and Sikkim from Eastern India and Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka from the far South. A team of 200 delegates from our neighboring country, Bangladesh, actively participated in the event, much to the delights of the trade visitors. The event also witnessed the visits of enthusiastic decision makers from sectors like Telcos, ISPs, MSOs, Cable, DTH, Broadcasting, DOT, TRAI, TDSAT, IT Companies (Software & Hardware), Security & Surveillance, Government Departments, Ministry, Institutions, Societies, Trade Associations, Law Enforcement Agencies & Private Organisations.

Mr. Subhas Chakraborty, Honourable Minister, Department of Transport and Sports, Govt. of West Bengal inaugurated the 3-day event on 13th February 2009 at 1.00 pm. Padma Bhushan Dr. Pathak also graced the occasion by lighting the Inaugural Lamp.

The Converging World 2009 attained quite a few landmarks in the history of exhibitions of this country and shall be remembered in the days to come. The event witnessed the launch of World's largest plasma TV, 103 inches, from Panasonic, Japan, for the first time in India. It also witnessed the launches of the smallest Laptop Computer, 7.5 inches and 980 grams from the Indian computers’ major HCL Ltd. and the smallest projector weighing 115 grams. Other highlights of the event included the introduction of cell phone emission resistant cards into the eastern market, introduction of wide range of Digital CCTV products, Networked home and networked office concepts and much more. More than 35,000 visitors thronged the show on the three-day event while some 100 exhibitors and participants from various countries showcased their products and services, making the event truly international, in all aspects.

Hi-Tech Conference

The Hi-tech Conference of the Converging World event held on February 07, 2009, at the Park Hotel, Kolkata, provided a perfect launching pad for the run-up to the exhibition. The Conference drew industry stalwarts to present key insights and put forward their vision and roadmap for the future of convergence in India.

Shri Md. Salim, Honourable Member of Parliament & Chairman, Minority Development & Finance Corporation, inaugurated the Hi-tech Conference at 11.30 am. Dr. Debesh Das, Honourable Minister-in-Charge, Department of Information Technology, Government of West Bengal was the Special Guest of Honor and graced the occasion by lighting the Inaugural Lamp in the Inaugural Ceremony.
